Aux Freres de la Cote - Ars-en-Ré

This is a classic beach side bar/restaurant. eating is simple, good and plentiful. the prices are fair. the staff and the clientel are well humiliated and bring out the best at the place. it has a magnificent view of the sea and the sky. we were there in...sun (glorious) and rain (convenient). they go with open hearts and they will be repaid.

The setting is the best part, unfortunately do not fit the food and service. the muscheln au curry had poured a cold pale green sauce over it. hard boiled au curry! service is brutal because inadequate staff. they do their best, but they are gone. the boss has to reassess. it is currently a money machine.

We had a great meal here! there is a simple menu: oyster, seafood, grills and a children's menu. there were only a few employees, but the service was always happy. who cares if they have to wait one if they have one. table with views of the sea, rock pools and sunset? when the restaurant served in the evening around 19 o'clock, it immediately filled out, so it is a good idea to come a bit earlier for drinks and then take a table to dinner.

We came here for a drink to suss out if we wanted to eat here later on in the evening. In the event we decided to go back to the port in Ars, perhaps the fact that they seemed to be setting out a table...for a very large group of people put us off, and partly our desire to see the town again. We sat on the terrace with a beer, it's a fantastic location. The guy who served us (the owner perhaps) was friendly and professional and we didn't see the scary waitress mentioned in other reviews.

Beautiful location. Eggs at will for 18 euros. rose wine of the house great. if in the area to try.
