I asked him for his recommendation on a ****** Mary, he said that the Samurai is highly popular, so that's what I ordered. Travis had his usual Jack and Coke. Server brought waters out right away, bar drinks took a few minutes, as expected on Friday night. He also brought out their fresh bread, butter, and house spread (which is to die for). My Samurai ****** Mary was AMAZING!!!! It is your basic ****** Mary jazzed up with Sriracha and soy sauce, rimmed with spices and garnished with a lime wedge and a fortune cookie I thought that was an adorable twist. Loved it! For our appetizer, we ordered the Crispy Shrimp in Rice Paper with Pineapple Jalapeño Dipping Sauce. The app came out surprisingly quickly, like within 4 or 5 minutes. As usual, the shrimp were perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. The crisp rice paper adds a wonderful crunch and the spicy/sweetness from the pineapple jalapeño sauce is really a wonderful accompaniment. For my entree I ordered the Steakhouse Pasta with Chicken. The dish came out steaming hot and smelled amazing. The chicken was a plentiful portion, grilled and sliced... But it seemed to be lacking salt as the pieces were rather bland besides the grill flavor. Luckily the pasta sauce was flavorful enough to make up for it! Creamy, rich, wonderful consistency and texture, I really enjoyed the pasta sauce, the mushrooms were my favorite. It also had an incredible black pepper flavor which always makes me happy. The portion size was just right for me, plenty of food and not so much left over that I feel obligated to take it home. Travis ordered the 2721 Burger (medium) which is topped with bacon, cream cheese and jalapeños, with a side of sweet potato fries. The burger was presented beautifully, towering on the glistening pretzel bun. After Travis ate into about 1/2 the burger he realized that it was too rare for his taste (it was maybe even a hair rare for my taste, on the cool side of medium rare). He had already eaten a good portion so he didn't want to send it back, he just left the very center of the burger behind. This is where my only issue with service came in.... Travis and I swapped entrees so that we could experience each other's food. I ended up getting a huge bite of jalapeño and it LIT ME UP! Mind you, these are fresh jalapeños sliced into coins with seeds and ribs intact. I love heat, but I drained my water and our server never came back to refill it and that spicy ****** Mary wasn't an option to cool my palate. Luckily Travis still had about half a glass of water that he passed it to me. The server actually didn't come back over until we were completely through eating. It was by no means BAD service, but it takes 30 seconds to stop by with a water pitcher and sitting with empty drinks for 10+ minutes is just not normal in my opinion. I still left a 16%ish tip, he was great until the last half of the meal. We got our for just over $60, not bad for a night out with drinks! We always love Embers. There were a couple missteps tonight but that won't deter us from returning!
Date night here at Embers. The ambience here is kind of a rustic lounge atmosphere. The service was great, the waiter was very attentive and helpful. We started off with squigglies, which are basically onion strings, and were about the same as you would get anywhere else. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass which was quite a bit spicier than I expected, but was still good. My instinct was not to order fish at a steakhouse, and I kind of wish I had followed it because my wife 's ribeye tasted much better. The Green Chile Mac and Cheese was a highlight for me, I liked it more than my entree. For dessert, we ordered the turtle cheesecake, which was very good. Overall a nice evening which we want to repeat at some point. It wasn 't a knock your socks off type dinner, but still a nice, classy place to enjoy a steak dinner.
I am from Wisconsin and know a decent steak and have a lot of bad ones. I was visiting from out of town for business and asked the locals at work what is a good hole in the wall Texas steak house that I can enjoy what Texas really brings to the table. 2 people in the group instantly said Embers. First off, this is not a hole in the wall. It feels upscale linen napkins... I ate at the bar as I was alone. The bartender server mentioned the dry aged ribeye. I have only had a few so someone in the kitchen Said I should get my other choice as dry aged as a distinct profile the cowboy bone in ribeye. Thank the taste bud gods he did as I showed up the next day for the dry aged. The ribeye was amazing. Cooked to perfection, medium rare. Taste/seasoning was amazing. Char, perfect. Cooked to perfection. Side of deep fried baked potato was just as flavorful. Get that. I came back the second night determined to try a Texas dry aged steak. Holy smokes. Amazing. Crispy flavor on the outside. Tender flavor on the inside. It took me a while to finish this one because of the crispy great flavor but I enjoyed every bite. Again, the baked potato side. The higher end scotch was very well priced. I had two different bartender/servers who were constantly asking if they could ring me anything. Hands down, I would not go any where else. Thank you Embers and those who suggested it. The only con is the price of the steak which you will forget once you start and finish the meal. Forgive my basic descriptions as i am no food critic .
Had an excellently cooked, tasteful mac cheese (just a little spicy) and a medium ribeye steak... Fabulous!!! Everyone coming to Amarillo should dine here!!! Staff and guests were the best of TX... Service was excellent honest caring!!! Amarillo is a jewel... Hope the city fathers and mothers recognize and realize and fulfill the region's needs with the help of the TX government... Amarillo needs international companies to locate here... The government of TX needs to respond to this regions needs too...
When I visited for happy hour, I was excited to try some appetizers advertised at a reduced price. However, when I arrived just a few days after seeing the sign, I found out they no longer offered those items, which was quite disappointing. I was looking forward to sampling something new at an affordable price. Despite this setback, I ended up really enjoying my meal. I opted for the $8 soup and salad combo, choosing the beef stew soup, which was hearty and satisfying, along with the delicious blue cheese wedge salad. I didn’t have any leftovers, but I truly enjoyed what I had. I'm still eager to return for the prime rib sandwich before 4 p.m. at some point in the future! The staff at the restaurant are incredibly friendly, which adds to the overall positive experience.
