Cafe Sao Goncalo - Amarante

Lovely cafe with a cool history! Has been in operation as a cafe since the 1930s, and recently went through a reno while still keeping the legacy and charm. Great lunch deal wonderful service!

Très bonne table avec terrasse et vue sur l'église Sao Gonçalo et le pont. Menu très abordable. Soups bien présentés et très bon.

I haven't been back to Amarante for 20 years. Coming back to the café and being welcome by the new owner, Jean Pedro, and all his amazing employees was like coming home. There is an old style, old school feel at this place and the food is cooked with love and care. It is such a beautifully located place right next to the cathedral and you can literally spend hours here watching people and living around you. I will definitely be back!

Excellent meal, great service, definitely recommend the restaurant, food was excellent, very tasty and served with style. The staff were very friendly and talkative, Wine recommended was spot on. Quality food and great service for a reasonable price.
