La Pantera Rosa - ALASSIO

Nearly everyone has a strong opinion on pizza. It looks like the views on this place run the gamut from superb to despicable. There are very few eateries in Alassio that we haven 't tried over the years. Frankly, we have walked by this establishment dozens, if not hundreds of times, and have been a little apprehensive to try it. I always try to be supportive of restaurants, knowing that it is a very tough business, and has become even rougher with rising inflation and the aftermath of the pandemic. After a disappointing meal, I will try to offer constructive advice. Nice people work here, While the dining room is somewhat dated, it is clean and pleasant with a quirky ambiance. We rather liked the basic pizza crust, which is essential. But from there, false economies were quite evident. The thin tomato paste and the very sparse and average (or less) quality toppings were a glaring disappointment. My wife and I both had the rustic pizza. Three sad looking anchovies per pie and five or six olives and capers makes for a very spartan dish. In a world where nearly every restaurant (not just pizzerias) has them on the menu and supermarkets are loaded with dozens of versions of frozen pies, a pizzeria needs to prevail on the quality and character of their signature dish. The grade here is mediocre at best. Why trash a good pie with lackluster and stingy ingredients? All I can think of is because the cost of components have gone up and they are afraid to raise their prices. That isn 't the way to foster loyal and appreciative patrons. I wanted to give them a higher rating. But it hasn 't been earned. The prices are modest and ought to be.

The restaurant provides good authentic local cuisine, without the trouble you find in the big restaurants next to the beach. 10/10 would recommend

We had good pizza in pink pantera. The staff was friendly and helped us with taxi. We liked pizza with prosciutto and calzone as well. Prices are reasonable. It's worth to try one time at least
